Demurrage Analyst

In the role of Demurrage Analyst and as a professional member of the Demurrage Team (4 fte), you will help to ensure efficient and thorough management of demurrage claims in order to minimize demurrage costs for the company and to maximize recovery of demurrage claims by other parties.

Demurrage Analyst
Rotterdam – fulltime

Job outline
In the role of Demurrage Analyst and as a professional member of the Demurrage Team, you will help to ensure efficient and thorough management of demurrage claims in order to minimize demurrage costs for the company and to maximize recovery of demurrage claims by other parties. The main responsibilities of the job are in 2 result areas:

Claim handling

• Ensure that all claims for recovering demurrage are timely issued and sent out complete with all supporting documents;
• making accruals in the system;
• issuing invoices;
• ensure response and formal receipt confirmation;
• keeping records of claim sent/received;
• managing set-off and claim finalization projects.

Administrative, financial and reporting

• Organize and monitor accurate demurrage records in order to have at all times a precise overview of status, progress and recovery process of indemnities due to Demurrage or other time related claims;
• Provide reports and analysis of individual business partners to Trading desk and Management;
• Maintain close communication, co-ordination and information exchange with Operations and Trading on potential demurrage claims;
• Identify trends or recurring events in demurrage claims by addressing root causes in contracts, charterparties, GT&C’s, in order to increase demurrage awareness and expertise.

Your professional profile

• BSc or higher degree in Shipping Management, Marine Policy, Marine Law, Supply chain logistics, operations management, or equivalent by experience
• At least 2-3 years of experience, ideally in an international trading environment (oil & gas industry, shipping, bunkering, transport etc.)
• Fluency in English (command of Dutch or any other languages is a plus)
• Knowledge of Oil Operations, Documentation and Procedures
• Good understanding of Trading and Freight Finance and Controls
• Awareness of Shipboard/Terminal Operations
• Familiar with with Term Contract Demurrage Clauses with third parties and Shipping Term Contracts, shipping terms, Charter Parties and their application
• Advanced knowledge of MS Office and the ability to learn new systems (e.g. Hubse CMS, SAP).
